Most privacy policies are written by lawyers, for lawyers. This one isn't. Plain English, what we actually do, no boilerplate.
Who we are
This site is run by Joseph Zeratzion, trading as The Courage Company. We're a leadership consultancy based in London, working with companies worldwide. If you want to reach us about anything on this page (or anything else), email joseph@thecourage.co.
We are the data controller for the personal data this site handles, under UK GDPR.
What we collect
When you visit the site, our analytics tool (Google Analytics 4) collects:
- Your IP address (anonymised by Google)
- Your browser, device, and operating system
- The pages you view and how long you spend on them
- Where you came from (search engine, link, direct)
Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. They are not essential for the site to work. You can opt out by adjusting your browser settings, using a tracker blocker, or installing Google's official opt-out tool at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
When you email us, we receive whatever you choose to share: your name, email address, message contents, and any attachments. Our email is hosted by Google Workspace.
That's the lot. No forms, no newsletter signups, no third-party scripts beyond Google. Nothing else is collected.
Why we collect it
Analytics: to understand what people read on the site, so we can make it more useful and spot what isn't working.
Email correspondence: to reply to you and, if we end up working together, to do the work.
Our lawful basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interest for analytics, and either consent or contract performance for email correspondence.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your data. Not now, not ever.
The only third parties that touch your data:
- Google, via Analytics and Workspace. Their privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy.
- Our website host, who processes traffic to deliver pages to you.
If we start using any other service that handles personal data, we'll update this page before doing so.
How long we keep it
Analytics data: Google Analytics 4 retains user data for 14 months by default, then deletes it.
Email correspondence: as long as we have an active or potential working relationship. After that, deleted within 12 months.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Ask what personal data we hold about you
- Ask us to correct anything that's wrong
- Ask us to delete your data ("right to erasure")
- Object to how we use it
- Get a copy in a portable format
- Withdraw consent at any time
To do any of this, email joseph@thecourage.co. We will respond within 30 days. No forms, no friction.
If you're not satisfied with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Cookies
This site uses two kinds of cookies:
- Essential cookies: required for basic functionality. You cannot opt out of these without breaking the site.
- Analytics cookies: set by Google Analytics. These help us understand site usage. You can opt out via your browser settings, a tracker blocker, or Google's opt-out tool.
We do not use advertising cookies, retargeting cookies, or any third-party cookies beyond Google Analytics.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material here, we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be flagged on the homepage where appropriate.
